Alveston welcomed Brackley to the Home Guard and it was the home side that started livelier and were playing some lovely flowing football and found themselves 1-0 up with a scrabbled goal bundled in by skipper Paul McHugh. Alveston then made the mistake of sitting back and allowing Brackley back into the game and it was the away team who threatened more and deservedly got there equaliser through a defensive error. Alveston couldn-t find there rhythm and for 15 minutes were at 6-s + 7-s and the solid Jack Raymond in the home goal was kept busy but it was the home side who grabbed the next goal with the lively Johnny Adair linking on 2 a long through ball from Taran Baghria and lobbing the keeper coolly 2 continue his fantastic scoring streak this seemed to settle Alveston and it was them who created the better chances with Alveston’s best player of the half Liam Miller involved in everything they did 2-1 at half time.
Alveston changed the formation slightly for the second half with the introduction of Brad McKinty and Luke Taylor later on in the half seemed to lift the home side that little bit more and for much of the half were on top with both McHugh and Adair grabbing there well deserved brace. Alveston played much better football and got what they deserved in the second half 4-1 a big say has got to go to the great attitude shown by the Alveston boys who played with injuries + illness as the injury list gets longer and longer. thanks to Brackley for a good competitive game and good luck for the rest of the season.
